So in bedding soil I think the pH should be fine as most soils are slightly acidic, but if you have any doubts I’d ask a neighhbour thats a keen gardener, who is likely to know. If your azalea is struggling to flower AND turning yellow however, I’d look into whether your soil is too alkaline, by using a soil gauge or sending off a sample of your soil for testing.

If it is too alkaline you can either replant your azalea in a pot of ericaceous soil (which is just acidic compost) which in my opinion is the best option or amend the soil with sulphur which is more difficult as whenever I’ve tried to do this the soil quickly turns back to its original pH.

If your azalea isn’t blooming I’d use a specific azalea fertilizer and ensure it is in enough sunlight (partial shade is best). Of course I’d avoid any excess pruning and with some patience your azalea should bloom again! Let me know how it all goes and if you have any more specific questions Diana please let me know! Mark
